I would recommend Hyper-V as well, but unless you are going to set up an active directory environment, then you should go with the GUI based Windows Server version of Hyper-V. Windows Server 2008 W/Hyper-V – This allows you to host the VMs you need AND, use the Host to do other things as well. My primary Hyper-V server, for instance, is also my Primary Domain controls with all my FSMO roles on it.

Hello, I am considering an upgrade from Opteron 4180 to Opteron 4384 and I was wondering if anyone has experience running a 64-bit VMs inside a nested ESXi on this CPU. In otherwords if it supports AMD Rabit Virtualization Indexing that is required for this. By default, I provision each VM with 40 GB of disk, which is sometimes limiting. When I’m doing work with Docker, container images can eat up disk quickly. Every few weeks, I find that I’ve filled up my VM’s disk, and I have to run docker system prune --all, so the additional disk will spare me those interruptions.
